The Brotherhood That Started It All: Fight Club’s Founding Story

A Father’s Vision, A Group of Freshmen, and a Bold Beginning
In 2021, four years ago, a small group of freshmen boys at Blue Valley High School were given a unique invitation—to be part of something bigger than themselves. It all began with Ryan Bevins, a father who recognized a deep need in the lives of young men: a space where they could be real, vulnerable, and supported. Ryan wanted his son and his friends to know that manhood doesn’t mean isolation or silence—it means strength in connection. So, he started Fight Club, a weekly gathering where these boys could bond, talk about real life, and walk through the highs and lows together.
Four Years of Friendship, Growth, and Life Change
What began as a father’s vision quickly became a transformational experience for this group of young men. Over the past four years, they’ve journeyed through high school side by side, celebrating milestones and carrying one another through hard moments. Their bond became something unbreakable. For some, Fight Club sparked a deepening faith, culminating this summer when six of the boys chose to be baptized in the Bevins’ family swimming pool. For others, Fight Club completely reshaped the way they viewed friendship, purpose, and identity. This wasn’t just a group—it became a brotherhood that changed lives.

The Legacy Lives On at Kansas State
Now, as these young men graduate from high school, their story doesn’t end—it evolves. Most of the original Fight Club members will be attending Kansas State University, and in a powerful symbol of their connection, they’ll be living under one roof. These boys are already making plans to carry the mission of Fight Club with them to campus—creating a safe, real space for college men to grow in friendship, accountability, and faith. The group that once met as freshmen in basements and backyards is now prepared to carry the torch into a new season.
The Inaugural Group That Sparked a Movement
This first Fight Club group will always be special. They are the pioneers—the ones who said “yes” when no one else had gone before them. Their courage and consistency have paved the way for dozens of new groups, and their impact will be felt for years to come. As they graduate, Fight Club itself is growing. For the first time, girls will also be stepping into their own Fight Club groups—beginning with Ryan Bevins’ daughter, who will be a freshman at Blue Valley High this fall. Just as her brother once did, she and her peers will build a space where honesty, connection, and encouragement take root.

A Future Full of Hope and Impact
What started as a father’s hope has become a powerful movement transforming the lives of teens across the KC Metro and beyond. Boys—and now girls—are discovering that they don’t have to walk through life alone. They’re learning that vulnerability is strength, and that there is joy in doing life together. As this original group heads into their future with a foundation of faith and friendship, the future of Fight Club shines even brighter. This is only the beginning—and the impact it will have on the next generation is limitless.
Fight Club is a space where young adults can openly talk about the issues they’re facing, without judgment or pressure. Have questions or want to learn more about Fight Club? We’re here to help.
