Fight Club Spring Rally: Connection, Motivation, and Competition

This spring, Fight Club took a huge step forward by hosting our first-ever Spring Rally, a day built to bring our entire community together. And it did exactly that. With over 150 teens in attendance, from 6th through 12th grade, the energy in the room was incredible. It felt like the start of something special and it is something we fully plan to continue with annual spring and fall rallies moving forward.
Fight Club groups are made up of students from the same school and grade, with 33 groups connected to 14 different schools across the Kansas City metro. At the rally, nine of those schools were represented. What made it so cool was seeing students step outside their normal circles, meeting new people, building connections, and realizing just how big the Fight Club family really is.
A Message Worth Hearing
We kicked things off with motivational speaker Justin Pickens, who brought a message that really stuck: "be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody." He challenged our students to think about how they treat others and how they show up every day. He also got real about things like limiting social media and being intentional about what we put into our bodies. For teens navigating the pressures of adolescence and teen mental wellness in today's world, it was exactly the kind of grounded, honest message they needed to hear. It was the perfect way to set the tone.

Competition, Community, and a Whole Lot of Energy
Then came dodgeball and things got loud in the best way. We had middle school and high school divisions, and both were full of competition, laughter, and nonstop energy. The Chisholm Trail Middle School boys (Class of 2032) took home the middle school title, while a combined team from Liberty High School and Blue Valley Northwest won it all for high school. Huge shoutout to Scheels for providing gift cards for our winners.
We also couldn't have done this without our amazing partners and volunteers. Olathe Hy-Vee kept everyone fueled with drinks and snacks, and our leaders, parents, and volunteers showed up big, reffing games, cheering kids on, and helping create an environment that felt fun and safe.

More Than a Tournament
At the end of the day, this rally was about more than a speaker or a tournament. It was about connection. It was about peer support in action, students from across the Kansas City metro stepping into a room full of people who get it, who are in it together, and who are choosing to show up for each other. It was about reminding every student there that they matter and that they're not alone.
Because at Fight Club, no one fights alone.
