Olathe South Girls Kickoff Fight Club with Food, Friendship, and a Little Pickleball

Fun, Food, and Friendly Competition
The Olathe South Girls Fight Club kickoff was one for the books! More than 25 girls from grades 9 through 12 came together for a night full of laughter, good food, and plenty of fun. With eight new group leaders stepping up, the excitement was easy to see. The evening started with pickleball—lots of energy, friendly competition, and a few good-natured laughs—before everyone came together to share a meal. Between the chatter, smiles, and new connections being made, it was clear that something special was starting to take shape.
A Message from the Heart
Once everyone settled in on the rooftop, it was time to talk about what Fight Club is really about and what these groups can mean for the girls at Olathe South. I had the chance to share a bit from my heart—about what I’ve seen in other Fight Club groups and why I’m so excited for this one. Having taught many of these girls, I know how strong, thoughtful, and capable they are. I told them I can’t wait to see how this experience helps them grow in confidence, connection, and leadership—both inside and outside of school.
We also heard from Tiffany Whitney, Fight Club’s Vice President of Mission Development, who shared her own story and why this movement means so much to her. Tiffany talked about how important it is for young women to have spaces where they can be themselves, build real friendships, and support one another. Her message really connected with the group and set the tone for what’s to come.

Leaders with Passion and Purpose
Each of the eight new group leaders took a few minutes to share why they wanted to lead and what they’re most excited about. Their reasons were heartfelt and they ultimately all had the same goal, they simply wanted to create a safe place for honest conversations and connection for these girls.
A few students also shared their own hopes for the group. Senior Cam Clutchey said she’s excited to use Fight Club as a space for Bible study and meaningful talks with her friends. Senior McKinleyHall shared that she joined because she wants to build deeper relationships with people she sees every day but doesn’t always get to know well—and to remind others that there are people who genuinely care about them. Their words captured the heart of what Fight Club is all about.

The Journey Begins
All four new groups will begin their bi-monthly meetings this month, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. The Olathe South girls have already shown what Fight Club stands for—connection, encouragement, and belonging. If the kickoff was any sign, this is just the beginning of something amazing.
Fight Club is a space where young adults can openly talk about the issues they’re facing, without judgment or pressure. Have questions or want to learn more about Fight Club? We’re here to help.
