A New Chapter For Fight Club

Fight Club is excited to announce the launch of the first ever middle school group with a group of 8th grade boys from St. Agnes Catholic School in Roeland Park. On Sunday, September 8th, 13 of the 18 boys from the 8th grade class enjoyed some Cane’s chicken while members of the 2027 Bishop Miege Fight Club joined up to explain what Fight Club was all about.

What made this event extra special was the fact that the six Miege Juniors came and spoke to the 8th graders. These Juniors, who are active participants in their Fight Club, had recently come off a devasting loss to their rival St. James High School the previous Friday night. During that loss, the Miege starting quarterback was halted on the first drive of the game with a broken collar bone. The other five Juniors experienced injuries as well including a concussion, a broken finger, a sprained ankle and bruised egos.

These Juniors spoke to the 8th graders about the importance of Fight Club and how much it has meant to them. They explained that it’s critical to have a group of boys who “have your back”. They talked about being real, being vulnerable and being willing to share your emotions even if it means shedding some tears.

The 8th graders and Juniors then ended the session with a game of “ultimate soccer” and a commitment that they’d be back to help these younger boys to get going with Fight Club.

Fight Club is a space where young adults can openly talk about the issues they’re facing, without judgment or pressure. Have questions or want to learn more about Fight Club? We’re here to help.
