Why This Tournament Matters

The Ryan Whitney Memorial Wiffle Ball Tournament exists to honor the life and legacy of Ryan Whitney through the game he loved most. Ryan was a standout athlete, loyal teammate, beloved brother, and someone who made people feel seen, valued, and encouraged everywhere he went.

Ryan passed away at just 15 years old on December 11, 2024, but his impact continues to live far beyond the field. Whether he was competing in baseball, football, fishing, wakeboarding, or backyard wiffle ball with his brother Jake, Ryan brought passion, grit, humor, and heart into everything he did. His friends still remember the phrase he constantly lived by: “Be A DAWG.”

This tournament is more than competition. It is a reminder to show up for others, encourage the people around you, and create spaces where nobody has to fight alone. Every team, every game, and every conversation carries Ryan’s spirit forward while supporting Fight Club’s mission of connection, mental wellness, and community.

What to Expect

The Ryan Whitney Memorial Wiffle Ball Tournament brings together families, friends, teammates, and supporters for a full day of competition, connection, and remembrance at Home Field Baseball Complex.

Teams of 5 will compete in a double-elimination tournament open to students entering 6th grade through college age participants under 25 years old. Each registration includes 5 tournament t-shirts and 5 bracelets. Games will consist of 3 innings or a 30-minute time limit, with home run derby tiebreakers adding to the energy and competition throughout the day.

This event is built around fun, sportsmanship, and community. Players call their own outs, umpires step in only when needed, and the focus stays on competition done the right way. All proceeds directly support Fight Club and its mission to create spaces where young adults can build meaningful connection, strength, and support together.
